1. Copyright Ownership

Unless otherwise stated, copyright in the original material created and published by CarterGraphy on the Stirling Ridge Walk Map website is owned by CarterGraphy and is protected under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).

This includes original maps and cartography, photographs, diagrams, illustrations, graphics, elevation profiles, navigation teaching material, written text, page content and other original visual or educational material.

Purchasing a Stirling Ridge Walk Map or receiving access to associated online Navigation material does not transfer copyright ownership or grant a general right to reproduce, share or republish that material.

2. Personal and Private Use

CarterGraphy material may be viewed and retained for the authorised user's personal, non-commercial use.

This includes taking screenshots, saving material for personal reference, printing material for personal reference, and storing or viewing material on a personal device or private internal network, provided that access remains limited to the authorised user and the material is not made available to other people.

Personal use does not include forwarding, publishing, uploading, distributing, displaying or otherwise making CarterGraphy material available to another person, group or organisation.

3. Sharing, Reproduction and Republishing

Prior written permission from CarterGraphy is required before CarterGraphy material is shared, reproduced, distributed, republished, supplied or otherwise made available to another person or organisation, except where the particular use is permitted by Australian copyright law.

This requirement applies whether the proposed sharing is commercial or non-commercial and whether the material is supplied free of charge.

Without prior written permission, CarterGraphy material must not be posted or shared through websites, social-media pages or groups, online forums, discussion groups, messaging groups, mapping platforms, file-sharing or cloud-storage services, educational platforms, publications, presentations, newsletters or other electronic or printed media.

This applies to maps, photographs, diagrams, illustrations, graphics, screenshots, written content, extracts, Navigation material and other original CarterGraphy content, whether reproduced in full or in a substantial part.

If you wish to share CarterGraphy material with another person, group, website, forum, organisation or publication, contact CarterGraphy first. Where appropriate, CarterGraphy may instead authorise or request that you link to the original publicly accessible page on stirlingridgewalk.com.au.

4. Facebook, Community Groups and Online Sharing

CarterGraphy material must not be posted, uploaded, copied, forwarded or shared on Facebook without prior written permission from CarterGraphy.

This applies to public, private and closed Facebook groups, Facebook pages, community groups and discussions, regardless of whether the group is commercial or non-commercial.

The same restriction applies to other social-media platforms, online forums, community websites, messaging groups, mapping platforms, file-sharing services and other online communities.

Membership of a private or closed group does not make the sharing of CarterGraphy material “personal use”. Once material is made available to other members of a group or community, it is being shared with others and falls outside the personal-use permission provided by CarterGraphy.

This includes CarterGraphy maps, map extracts, photographs, screenshots, diagrams, illustrations, written material, Navigation material and material obtained from password-protected areas of the website.

Purchasing the Stirling Ridge Walk Map or receiving access to protected Navigation material does not give the purchaser permission to share that material with a Facebook group, walking group, club, forum, community page or any other person or group.

If you wish to discuss CarterGraphy material online, you may link to an appropriate publicly accessible page on the CarterGraphy website. This does not permit copying or reposting the content of that page.

If you wish to reproduce or share CarterGraphy material itself, you must contact CarterGraphy and obtain written permission before doing so.

5. Protected Navigation Material and Access

Protected Navigation material is supplied for the personal use of the authorised user.

Passwords and other access credentials must not be published, forwarded, posted, shared or otherwise supplied to another person without prior written permission from CarterGraphy.

Screenshots, photographs, diagrams, maps, text or other material obtained from protected areas of the website must not be posted, reproduced, forwarded or shared with other people, including through websites, social-media groups, online forums or messaging groups, without prior written permission from CarterGraphy.

You must not circumvent, attempt to circumvent, or assist another person to circumvent password protection or other access controls used to protect CarterGraphy content.

6. Other Uses Requiring Permission

Except where permitted by Australian copyright law, prior written permission from CarterGraphy is required before CarterGraphy material is adapted, reproduced, stored for distribution, transmitted, printed for distribution, displayed publicly, published, commercialised or used to create derivative material.

Educational, training, club, guided-walk, organisational, media and community use is not automatically treated as personal use. Schools, training organisations, walking clubs, commercial guides, outdoor programs, publishers and other organisations must contact CarterGraphy before reproducing or sharing the material.

Permission may be subject to conditions such as attribution, limits on reproduction, image resolution, duration, permitted audience, method of distribution or a licence fee.

7. Photographs, Maps and Images

Unless otherwise credited, original photographs, maps, cartography, diagrams and images on the website are copyright CarterGraphy.

Saving an image, taking a screenshot, downloading a file or otherwise obtaining a copy does not transfer copyright or create permission to share, republish or distribute it.

Personal retention is permitted as described above. Any sharing or reproduction for another person or audience requires prior written permission from CarterGraphy, except where permitted by law.

8. Third-Party Material

Some material appearing on the website may be owned by third parties or used under licence, permission or an applicable open-data or open-content licence. Where practical, third-party material will be identified or attributed.

Copyright and other rights in third-party material remain with the relevant owner. CarterGraphy cannot grant permission to reuse material owned by another party. Any reuse must comply with the licence, permission or legal rights applying to that material.

9. Linking to the Website

You may link to publicly accessible pages on stirlingridgewalk.com.au, provided the link is presented fairly and does not suggest endorsement, partnership or affiliation where none exists.

Linking to the original page is different from copying its contents. A link does not give permission to reproduce CarterGraphy maps, photographs, diagrams, text or other content, or to bypass restricted access controls.

10. Requests for Permission

If you wish to share, reproduce, publish, distribute or otherwise use CarterGraphy material beyond the personal and private use described in this policy, contact CarterGraphy before doing so.

Your request should identify the material, the intended use, where it will appear, who will have access to it and whether the proposed use is commercial or non-commercial.

Permission is not granted unless CarterGraphy confirms it in writing.

11. Reporting Unauthorised Use

If you believe CarterGraphy material has been copied, posted, shared or distributed without permission, please contact CarterGraphy with enough information to identify the material and where it is being used.

If you believe material appearing on the CarterGraphy website infringes copyright that you own, please contact us and explain your concern.
